Essential December 2025 Tax Deadlines for Individuals

December 1 - Initiate Your Year-End Tax Planning

December is the ideal time to assess actions that could impact your 2025 tax filings. Individuals experiencing significant income changes, adjustments in marital or dependent status, or property sales in 2025 should schedule a consultation for a comprehensive tax strategy.

December 10 - Tip Reporting Deadline

Employees who earned over $20 in tips during November must submit IRS Form 4070 to their employers by December 10. This is essential for accurate FICA and income tax withholdings. If your regular wages aren't sufficient to cover these withholdings, your employer will indicate this shortfall on your W-2 form, and you will need to reconcile it on your annual return.

December 31 - Mandatory IRA Withdrawals

Ensure mandatory distributions from your Traditional IRA are processed by December 31 if you were born before January 1, 1952. For those turning 73 in 2025, the initial distribution must be taken by April 1, 2026, but early planning is advisable if financial institutions have limited hours near year-end.
